Jonathan Shabshaikhes

Jonathan Shabshaikhes has extensive experience working in the New York State and New York City government as well as years of private sector experience advocating for equitable public health policies. Jonathan started his career getting involved in local community based organizations and political campaigns. He served for 2 years as the Legislative and Budget Director in the New York City Council under the Office of the Deputy Leader. He worked on legislation that amended NYC’s Smoke Free Air Act and multiple dwelling housing laws while managing the distribution of the Member’s discretionary funding budget. Afterwards he was the Intergovernmental Affairs Coordinator and Jewish Liaison at the New York City Public Advocate’s Office- developing relationships with many government officials, key staff, and community leaders. He transitioned to the Office of the New York State Attorney General Letitia James as the Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the New York City region. In that role he developed and executed external engagements relating to opioid settlement funding distribution, hate-crime legislation, and interfaith coalition building. Most recently, Jonathan worked at VNS Health as the Associate Director of Government Affairs leading City, State, and Federal legislative lobbying efforts. He represented the 50,000 member health plan and provider organization advocating for more accessible public health policies and critical funding grants. With his more than 10 years of public, private, and non-profit sector experience, Jonathan brings to envision strategies proficiency in New York City and New York State politics. In 2023 he was included in City and State’s “Who’s Who in Government Relations” list. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the City University of New York- Hunter College Political Science. Jonathan is a proud first generation America, New Yorker, and Brooklynite.
